Three Sierra Leone Airport Authority staff have successfully completed a five-day training on Performance Based Navigation (PBN) organized by the United ATS, the first Egyptian private company to provide Aviation Technology Services in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
The training provided the trainees with the required knowledge to improve aviation safety , reduce the risk of controlled flight into terrain and loss of control in all weather conditions and reduce delay at airport and certain dense airspace.
Speaking on the importance of the training, General Manager Shawky El Azab said that for Sierra Leone to fully implement the concept, there was an urgent need to capacitate key staff responsible for the management of air traffic control to meet ICAO Standards.
The Counselor/Head of Chancery in the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Cairo, Mr. Samuel A. Kargbo admonished the team to put into practice what they have learnt to improve the International Civil Aviation Organization ratings on Aviation Safety.
The beneficiaires included Abu Bakarr Kallon ATS Training Manager , Abdul Thorlu Bangura SATC, Chief of Air Services and Bolajeh Theophilus Bendu Control Tower Supervisor
