Orange SL Showcases Rich Service Portfolio at NATCOM’s Sixth Consumer Parliament
(SLENA, 30th March, 2021). The General Secretary of Orange mobile company, Haffie Haffner has said that Orange-SL has been operating for five years now in the country and providing excellent service for the Sierra Leonean populace.
Madam Haffner made the statement in Bo at the Consumer parliament event organised by Sierra Leone’s National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM) on the theme: “Digital Penetration for Consumer Satisfaction in Telecommunications.”
She on behalf of the CEO for Orange, thanked NATCOM for bringing together telecoms stakeholders to interface and map out the way forward for a better customer service.
She said Orange’s role in the digital transformation of Sierra Leone, cannot be compared to no other. She said the telecom’s investment in the country has surpassed Le1.4 Trillion and the network is also at the forefront with 3G and 4G internet connectivity.
“Today, we can boast of over 440 sites in the country. 100% of our sites are at least 3G compatible meaning that you can access internet from every Orange site around the country,”
She said Orange has earnestly improved the capacity of students by the launch of one of their data bundles- SPAK, which she described as the most affordable data offer for schools and universities.
Haffner said Orange is the very first telecom to deal in international remittance and loan services, adding that the network’s Cooperate Social Responsibilities (CSR) are second to none.
She said the company has donated to NACOVERC Android phones to the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) - for security personnel to track e-Pass along checkpoints, the construction of 3 Early Child Development (ECD) schools in Kambia, Pujehun and Moyamba.
In terms of mobile, internet and Smartphone penetration in the country, she said Sierra Leone has one of the lowest mobile penetration of about 64%, internet penetration at 18% and Smartphone at 30%, as compared to other countries in the African sub region.
