Sierra Leone’s out-going Ambassador to Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Morie Fofana was received by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Abdel Khalid Ghaffer on Wednesday 30 June 2021 to discuss bilateral ties and to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

Dr. Abdel Khalid Ghaffer conveyed his Ministry’s committing in strengthening the existing excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Arab Republic of Egypt by providing support in all Educational fields especially in Scientific research and cultural exchange programs.

The Minister underscored the importance of developing an executive program in the form of MOU between the two nations thereby supporting the implementation and acceleration of student exchange programs promptly. Dr. Ghaffer expressed his keenness to overcome all obstacles faced by Sierra Leone Students studying in Egyptian Universities in Egypt by providing the necessary facilitation.

Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education will now allocate ten (10) scholarships to Sierra Leone students every year under the “study in Egypt “Initiative
