BSK TV Network Launches in Sierra Leone: A New Era for African Storytelling.

Sierra Leone witnessed a historic moment with the official launch of BSK TV Network at a spectacular ceremony held at the Brookfield Hotel in Freetown. The event marked the birth of a pan-African television platform now available globally, including on Amazon and Apple, to promote African culture, talent, and untold stories to international audiences.

The ceremony brought together prominent government officials, entertainers, and creative industry leaders to celebrate this milestone. The evening commenced with a dazzling red carpet hosted by celebrated entertainer The Situa, followed by a heartfelt opening remark from Ansumana Keita.

Adel Karim Dandas, Country Director of BSK TV, delivered the welcome address, setting the stage to introduce Dr. Bernadette Sankoh Kamara, the visionary founder and CEO of BSK TV. Known for her entrepreneurial spirit and deep philanthropic commitment, Dr. Kamara has transformed countless lives through education, healthcare, and job creation initiatives.

"BSK TV is more than just a television network; it is a platform for empowerment, inspiration, and connection," Dr. Kamara said in her keynote address. "Our mission is to celebrate African culture, amplify our stories, and uplift local talent globally. I want this network to be a beacon of hope and pride—not only for Sierra Leone but all of Africa."

Lolo Yeama Sarah Thompson delivered a heartfelt tribute. “Dr. Bernadette Sankoh Kamara is a true daughter of Lunsar. She has put our hometown on the map, and we are forever grateful for that," Yeama noted, underscoring Dr. Kamara's impact and dedication to uplifting their community and beyond.

The evening's significance deepened as Yeama Thompson quoted Baden-Powell, emphasising Dr Sankoh Kamara's role in women's leadership: "We must inspire the next generation of women leaders to rise, take their place, and transform society." She noted that Dr Kamara's vision provides an opportunity to reshape narratives.

The evening also showcased Sierra Leoneans' influence on the global creative stage. Duain Richmond, the Sierra Leone-born lead actor of the Broadway musical Fela Kuti, served as the Master of Ceremonies, sharing his journey and connection to Sierra Leone. His presence and international acclaim inspired pride among attendees.

Representing the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Kwame Yankson, Permanent Secretary, praised BSK TV's groundbreaking achievement. "BSK TV is a shining example of what we can achieve when prioritising innovation and investing in creative industries. This network will not only showcase Sierra Leone's cultural heritage but also elevate Africa's image on the global stage," Yankson stated.

The entertainment lineup delivered unforgettable performances, beginning with Peace Kids and musician Rahim. The night's highlight came when celebrated Sierra Leonean artist Famous electrified the audience with his performance and was unveiled as BSK TV's Brand Ambassador. "I am honoured to represent a platform that celebrates our music, culture, and identity. BSK TV is a game-changer, and I am proud to be part of this journey," Famous said.

Two locally produced movies premiered during the event, earning praise for their quality and storytelling. Renowned director Lansana Sparta reflected on the platform's significance: "This is a place where our stories can shine. BSK TV is the opportunity we have long awaited, and I'm proud to be part of this historic moment."

Beyond her role as a media entrepreneur, Dr Bernadette Sankoh Kamara has earned admiration for her philanthropic work across Sierra Leone, especially in her hard-to-reach and marginalised communities. Through her education, healthcare, and women's empowerment initiatives, she has impacted countless lives and empowered communities.

With its launch on Amazon, Apple TV, and Roku, BSK TV sets out to inspire millions globally. Its Pan-African focus will celebrate diversity, bridge cultures, and tell stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.

The successful launch of BSK TV marks a monumental step for Sierra Leone's creative industry. It solidifies Dr. Kamara's legacy as a visionary leader, philanthropist, and proud daughter of Sierra Leone.
