Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Gears Up for 2025 Education Week.

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), in collaboration with partner organizations and key stakeholders, is finalizing preparations for the 2025 Education Week, scheduled to take place from January 20th to 24th in Bombali District. This highly anticipated event is set to bring together educators, policymakers, students, and the public for insightful discussions on advancing Sierra Leone's education sector.

Themed “AI and Education: Providing Human Agency in a World of Automation,” this year’s program will focus on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational system while preserving human creativity, decision-making, and emotional intelligence. The event aims to explore innovative strategies to enhance learning experiences through technology without diminishing the crucial role of human engagement in education.

In preparation for the event, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education recently held a strategic meeting with the University of Makeni to foster collaboration for the successful execution of the program. Discussions highlighted the university’s potential contributions, including hosting panel discussions, facilitating workshops, and sharing research insights on the role of AI in education.

The Education Week will feature a diverse range of activities, such as keynote addresses by renowned education experts, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and student showcases of technology-driven learning projects. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and gain a deeper understanding of how technological advancements can be effectively harnessed to improve educational outcomes while ensuring that learners remain active and empowered participants in their educational journeys.

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education remains committed to fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking educational environment that equips Sierra Leonean students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
