MoICE Prepares for Landmark Salone Civic Festival.

The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE), led by Minister Chernor Bah, has announced plans for the inaugural Salone Civic Festival, an event aimed at showcasing Sierra Leone's strategic achievements and ongoing developmental efforts. The festival aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s Big 5 Agenda as outlined in the 2024–2030 Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP).


Speaking at the Ministry’s conference hall, Minister Bah revealed that the festival is scheduled for December 11–12, 2024, with preparatory activities expected to be completed by December 9. He described the festival as the first of its kind, promising broad representation from the Office of the President, Vice President, Chief Minister, First Lady, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the private sector.

The two-day event will feature interactive booths showcasing achievements in critical areas such as:


Feed Salone

Human Capital Development

Youth Employment

Tech, Innovation, and Infrastructure

Reform of the Public Sector

Love Salone

Each zone will be championed by relevant MDAs, providing an immersive and engaging experience for attendees.


Day 1: Launch and Policy Presentation

The festival will be launched by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, with a keynote address from Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh. The first day will focus on presenting key policies tied to national priorities under the MTNDP.


Day 2: Civic Awards and Keynote Address

Day two will include a keynote speech by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, followed by a Civic Champion Awards Ceremony led by Dr. Fatima Bio, the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The awards aim to recognize outstanding contributions to national development and civic engagement.


Minister Bah expressed optimism about the festival, stating it would serve as a platform to celebrate achievements, inspire innovation, and strengthen public-private collaboration in Sierra Leone’s development journey.
